SENSORIAL AREA

This is one of the Color Boxes activity found in the most Montessori classrooms.

The color box contains 9 individual sections each with a different color shaded from darkest to lightest. The purpose of this activity is to grade each color starting from the Darkest. The above picture is an extension. A color wheel is placed in the middle of the rug, and the child attaches the graded tablets to the correct colors.

For more advance children, you can invite them to find objects in the environment that matches the colors on that are on the tablets.
